Rail Travel

Travelling by rail is comfortable and often the quickest way to travel. All the main cities and towns are connected by frequent services from Glasgow. Please visit Scotrail’s website for timetables and routes.

There are three main types of service in Scotland;

SPT Commuter services 

Frequent services to destinations from Glasgow including Prestwick Airport, Ayr, Troon and Helensburgh. There is no benefit of booking in advance on any of these services and reservations cannot be made. Visit SPT’s website for more information

Scotrail Express Services

Fast regular services to Stirling, Edinburgh, Perth, Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness.  Booking in advance will save you a lot of money on these services!

Scotrail Regular Services

Slower services to the West Highlands, Alloa and Carlisle as well as intermediate stops between Glasgow and the main cities.

Although slow these services take in some of the most beautiful scenery in the country!
